While traditional fireplaces can take lots of space and money to run it every day in winter, wall mounted alternatives are just as efficient, beautiful and elegant without the heavy price tag.

Wall mounted fireplaces are usually run by electricity, so there is no need for the gas vent or the chimney to get the smoke out. This is the air that will be heated and delivered into the room. The insert will be built to fit correctly into your existing fireplace. It has got leveling legs to make sure the insert is centered within the fire place. As along with gas logs, holes will have to be drilled for the gas and electricity.

The other area of the installation of an insert or gas logs will likely be venting. If venting is needed, it can be completed 2 ways. One is to utilize the chimney and run a vent pipe within it. Another is to vent via an exterior wall, in case the chimney can’t be employed for some reason. With vented systems, there will have to be fresh air for combustion and there are 2 options here as well. Air could be delivered in from the room or it can be delivered in through another vent pipe, placed in the wall or the chimney.

Gas logs and inserts are available in ventless models. If you buy one of those, you will have to seal off the fireplace to avoid drafts. In addition, you have to be aware that some states don’t let ventless gas logs.

A lot of newer models of gas fire place inserts come with a remote control. Should you have one, it should be put in outside of the firebox before putting in the covering, screen and glass front.

There are many benefits to using a gas fireplace so why don’t you convert your current fireplace to experience the heat, cost savings, and cleanliness of a natural gas fireplace.
